$100 Room Makeover: Rental Bathroom Update
Hey there! Welcome to week 2 of the $100 Room Makeover challenge hosted by Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry. Participating bloggers have all month to transform a space with a restricted budget and I’m taking on our rental bathroom. (You can find the entire process with these links; week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4.)
I mentioned in week 1 that we had asked the landlord to replace the bathroom vanity for us and he did! He also replaced our bathroom flooring and the fish oven in the kitchen.
Here’s the updated vanity all pretty and white!
I’ve already had fun decorating it a little. It has made such a big difference in this space! Just for a reminder, here’s how bad the old one was.
Doesn’t the new vanity make the space feel so much bigger and brighter? The floor is also so much better! I already found 2 black and white rugs at Daiso. Basically the best dollar store ever. These were actually 300 yen a piece (a little under $3) so perfect for my limited budget.
The other rug will go in front of the shower door.
The new storage shelf is a great size for between the vanity and washer/dryer combo. And I carefully looked for baskets that would fill the shelf perfectly for optimal hidden storage. They came from a store call Franc Franc. It’s similar to Bed, Bath, and Beyond. I have some ideas for covering all those ugly cords!
Some new hand towels and moving my pineapple print into the space is giving it a fresh and updated look.
There’s still some DIYs to do. Let’s recap with the mood board and plans.

Thanks Maria! Love them too. 🙂
I love the black and white rugs you got! So pretty, and I can’t believe they were $3. That’s nuts! Can’t wait to see what DIYs you have up your sleeve.
Thanks Kate!
I can’t believe how much you’ve already done! That vanity makes a huge difference, and I’m so jealous you can find rugs for less than $3. It’s looking great!
Thanks Meredith! Those rugs were a good find. 😉
Love the new additions you bought! And that new vanity does really brighten everything up! So nice that the landlord updated that for you!
Thanks Kristen! It was really nice of him. 🙂
That vanity looks so much better. The white sure does brighten up the space a lot. Sounds like you have amazing places to shop on a budget! I’m a little jealous… Lookin’ good!
Thanks Erin! Yes, the dollar stores are amazing but it’s hard to find furniture and rugs out here. Japanese size looks like doll furniture next to my husband. lol
Those rugs are amazing! And for $3?!?! What a steal! The new vanity is a wonderful bright addition to this space. Sounds like you’ve got a very kind landlord.
I do! Thanks so much. Love those rugs.. lol
