Jewelry Storage

Good morning my lovelies!
Do you ever wish you could get more use out of your jewelry?  I have kept mine in drawers and jewelry boxes ever since I have owned my beads and baubles and hate that I do not wear them more often.  Many times I even forget what I own!  So, I have decided to display my jewelry in hopes of wearing it more often.  My jewelry drawer can now be home to something else.

Ideas for pretty jewelry storage

1.  Slip your bracelets over an empty bottle.  If you set it on a plate, they won’t slip off.

2. Display your necklaces or bracelets on a 3 tiered plate stand.

 3.  Use little dishes to coral earrings and pretty barrettes.
4.  For your necklaces that easily tangle, hang them on pretty vintage drawer knobs on your wall.  To assemble, remove the nut from the back of the knob, drill a hole or screw (and remove) into the wall where you want to place the drawer knob,  then screw in the knob.

For your convenience, have a mirror near by.

Time will tell if I actually get more use out of my jewelry, but in the meantime, they sure are pretty to look at!!

What do you think? Would you try any of these?

  1. I meant to comment on this post when I first saw it on the Blog Strut. It is genius. It is a great way to show off your jewelry even if you don’t wear it and it turns the bottle into almost a piece of art! The dish tiered holder is really cute. Thank you for sharing it. It is a great inspiration.

  2. I’m in my late 40’s……and I have been collecting jewerly for as long as I can remember! I do find you will where it more if you see them out on display. I use crystal dishes to display my earrings…..usually divided in 2, 3 or 4 sections. They are cheap at the local flea markets. Then I just group all my “like” earrings in each section. For bangles, I found a 2 level t-bar like jewerly stand to hang them on. I have also seen those dollar store glass white stem vases used to hold bangles and bracelets (use mounting putty on bottom for stability). For my necklaces…..I use a large wrought iron wall mounted hat rack with 6 prongs and I use those prongs to group “like” necklaces on. Then below that I have 2 other multiple prong like metal brackets I found in my travels and drape other necklaces down on those. It is one big wall display that changes as I add and drop things from my collection. If you have any of those big statement necklaces or chokers or those elaborate necklaces that just don’t lay right on your neck any more or are too small or just never had the right thing to wear it with? I drape them over my smaller lamp shades! Also you can drape them on some of your wider, stouter vases too…..depending on their shape. And those old ornate dress pins (even hat pins) that really don’t work in your office casual dress code any more? I pin them on my dressy throw pillows now or at the end of a dust runner or the middle of a scarf mantel. Then I can still enjoy seeing them and feel they still have some use.

Flea markets are the best places for cheap funky and different costume jewerly. I keep it too about $1-3 for most items. If really special, maybe $5.00. Good way to try new things and not invest a whole lot of money and you can still experiment with styles. And don’t forget to check out the jewerly clearance at your local department stores. All have them. And some really good stuff can be dirt cheap.

If you don’t like what you bought over your travels? Have a “jewerly swap” with your relatives, girl friends or work mates. Everyone brings their jewerly cast offs and you pass around the bags and everyone takes what they like. Any leftovers can go to someone else or Goodwill or charity, etc.
