New Year New Room Refresh: Week 1

Hello, hello!  Today is the perfect day to refresh a room that needs some love.  The lovely Stephanie from Casa Watkins had a perfect New Year challenge for us.  Refresh a room in 3 weeks for a New Year New Room.  For me, that’s our downstairs bath/laundry room.  It acts as our guest bathroom too so I need it to be fun and pretty.  laundry-bath-collage

We’ve been in our Okinawan rental for a year now.  I’ve put little effort into decorating and organizing our bath/laundry room but now that I’ve really gotten to know the space and how we use it, it is definitely time to make it work better for us.

Let’s take a little tour.  As soon as you walk into our house, you see the laundry room door from the foyer.

The laundry area also contains the bathroom sink and cabinets.  This area is separated from the shower room and toilet. SONY DSCSONY DSC

As you can see the only interest is outlets and hoses! Blegh! Here’s the plan.SONY DSC
Thanks to our lovely sponsors, the plan is going to come into action really soon! 12487056_1538927239755592_4187506586789535062_o
Here’s some of the pretty accessories going into the room. laundry-bath-collage

With some new art and accessories, innovative cords and hoses coverings, and pretty styling, the space is going to finally be on par with the rest of the living area!

Follow along every Tuesday in January for updates!!  If you came from Pretty Practical Home, make sure to stop by A Designer at Home next and tell Corinna hi for me.

  1. Laundry rooms can be so hard! But your plan looks dreamy. It’s going to be such a refreshing space when you’re done. PS I like to watch vlogs of those living in places like Japan and the bathroom is spot on with what I’ve seen. So cool!

    1. Thanks Corinna! I keep thinking about doing a tour on Periscope or something. I’m just a little camera shy which is funny since I’m a professional pianist.

  2. What a great laundry space–looks like a good size and very bright! I’m so interested to see what you come up with for the cord and hose covers. My laundry closet needs some love, so I’m looking to you for inspo. 🙂 Love the decor you chose!

  3. Your mood board is really crisp and pretty, and I’m especially fond of the burled wood touches. Looking forward to seeing the completed space and what you come up with to deal with the hoses and cords. If I had my way, electrical cords would be banished forever.

  4. Loving your mood board! These pieces are going to be so great in this room. I love that you will be able to see your sense of style in a bath and laundry room. You have a great eye for decor so it’s going to be interesting to see how you decorate this space. Yay!

  5. Kathy! Your ideas look so clean & fresh’ perfect for a bath / laundry room! I can’t wait to see what tricks you’ve got up your sleeve to cover up your cords & outlets – I’ll be taking notes 🙂 looking forward to the rest of the challenge with you all! -Rachael
