My Bedroom for Now with Attractive New Pillows
A new house update with boho glam throw pillows for the master bedroom in a 60’s ranch style home in Fort Worth. Big style in a small space!
It’s time to share more of our new home with you! When I was looking for a house, my husband and I discussed wanting most of the square footage in the living areas as we don’t mind small and cozy bedrooms. We pretty much found just that with a 1960’s ranch style single family home. After every move, I try to get all of our spaces set up right away knowing I have plenty of time for the rooms to evolve into a dream design. We got lucky with great paint colors on our walls in this new house and I’m excited to work our style and decor with them! Our master bedroom has a lovely khaki green color that looks smashing with our gold bed frame and some fresh pillows. So without further ado, our new master bedroom!
My Bedroom with New Pillows and Styling Tips
*This post is sponsored by Dex Den who sent me their beautiful throw pillows for our bedroom. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
At first glance of the bedroom I envisioned a botanical print and for the entire house in general, more jewel tones. I was thrilled to be introduced to a new company in my home state offering modern decorative pillows with just the look I wanted!
I was super impressed with the small’s company story and the fact that they make the cost transparent so you know exactly what you are paying for. The pillows are really beautiful and their collections makes it easy to mix and match a small or large set. I chose the half set which comes with 4 pillows in different sizes and corresponding fabrics.
The bedside tables still need some work but I found this great retro clock that was my grandfather’s for my husband’s side that will definitely stay. It’s paired with some travel finds from our time in Japan.
The throw pillows definitely stand on their own which makes for a fuss free easy and elegant look! But you know I love mixing it up. I can’t wait to try these beauties in other rooms and have already had fun mixing and matching with shades of mustard yellow, black and white, and bright florals.
Styling tip: When mix and matching pillows with different patterns, use a botanical/floral in contrast with a geometric print.
There’s still oh so much to be done in this space but for now, my husband and I are enjoying the room.
Styling tip: When you place a bed in front of a side window, balance the other side with vertical art work or other wall decor.
I’m thinking about adding pattern to the entire back wall and changing the window treatments that came with the house. We were lucky that our bed frame was able to fit under the fan! It’s totally fine that we take our time with the room design and I’m enjoying the process.
As you can see our master bedroom is small but after our rentals in Japan is feels generous. I love that I don’t have to do a sideway walk to get around the bed anymore! The rich pillow colors and patterns certainly add the glam style that I was looking for.
Have you tried any new pillows to update a room lately? What colors and patterns have you been drawn to?

Kathy, are you renting this home, as well? That color on the walls is perfect, and love the pillows… going to check out Dex Den!
Another question… what are the inserts like? On the site it says, “down alternative”. Are these ‘chop-able’? 😉
They are quite solid Julie. The pillow are full but not too thick and firm.
Hi Julie! We actually bought this house since my husband retired from the Marines. We are just thrilled to be home and stay put for awhile! xoxo
