Bright and Fun Girl’s Room

A bright and fun girl’s room with lots of rental decorating tips and DIYs from a military family living off base in Japan.

Our little girl finished kindergarten today which makes her not so little anymore.  When we came out to Okinawa, I promised her a big girl room with lots of color and patterns.   Her room is small but we used the space as well as we could for what she enjoys doing. girls-room-feature

Do you remember the inspiration board?  I think it’s fun to see what was planned and then executed.

We repurposed decor from our old living room into our daughter’s room; like the large pink, purple, and blue print and herringbone pillows.

I had my little girl help me make the pom-pom garland for above her headboard.  You can find the tutorial hereSONY DSC

I sewed some left over pom -poms onto the sheer curtains. SONY DSC

The government issued dresser got a facelift with copper letters.  I really like how they look with the cherry wood tone.

There is just enough room on the headboard wall for the bed and a side table.SONY DSC SONY DSC SONY DSCSONY DSCMy husband and I are thrilled that our children have adapted to Okinawan living so well.   We are really enjoying making our rental a home.

  1. Our little girl is finishing up kindergarten this year too! We are slowly in the process of redoing her room and she will be moving to a bigger bed soon. I loved seeing what you did for your little one! Very pretty!

  2. SO Cute! Love those decals on the closet. So simple, but they add a lot. And I absolutely love that last picture of her standing with her umbrella!
