Hello my friends and happy December 3rd!
About seven years ago, my friend Sarah Beth showed me how to make a poinsettia door hanging that I have been proudly displaying ever since.
I like that it’s not a wreath, which is my go to door decor for every other season and holiday. This year, I decided to update my door hanging using black and white ribbon, a white poinsettia, and feathers.
DIY Christmas Countdown Door Hanging
Here is what I used:
A white poinsettia
Feathers
B&W Hounds tooth and a trellis print ribbons (wide, wire edged ribbon works best)
The jingle bells off of my original door hanging
Wire cutters and florist wire
How to assemble:
Step one: Gather your two ribbons and start creating large loops, pinching in the middle to hold together.
Create three loops on each side of the pinched center.
Tip: Hold up the poinsettia to check size and placement before securing with wire and cutting ribbon from spools.
Step Two: Secure the ribbon with florist wire and leave about 18 inches of ribbon to tie bells to.
Step Three: Attach your ribbon tails (you can add additional ones), flower stem, and feather stems with wire.
Step Four: Tie the bells to the end of your ribbon tails and pull apart the ribbon loops.
I had picked up a cute little chalkboard sign when I was in WA a couple of weeks ago and was about to write Merry Christmas on it when my clever husband said, “hey, why don’t you write down 23 days to Christmas?” Awesome. I knew I married him for the right reasons and now I have a Christmas Countdown door hanging. Even better.
Here’s how she turned out!
Come back tomorrow for some more CHRISTMAS decor ideas!! What have you been doing this holiday season?

This is really cute. We have a Santa that has wooden numbers you change out. No one in the family was ever any good at keeping up with it but my sister. I think it’s cause her birthday is so close to Christmas.

Thanks Aleshea. I can relate to your sister, my twin and I were born on Christmas morning. =) She was the one to put up the tree Thanksgiving evening every year. It helps that I have a huge piece of chalk sitting by the front door too!

Kathy that is really pretty and different. I like things that are out of the box. Great job! I may have to ‘borrow’ this idea 🙂

Thanks Dawn! It’s nice to think of something that hasn’t been on pinterest. =)
