Christmas Wreath with Fresh Sprigs

|

Ah, the on-going challenge of creating decor with material I already have.  I love it when a project doesn’t cost a penny!  Welcome to Day 4 of Up to Date Interiors’ Christmas Series (part 1).

If you missed any of the previous handmade decor this week {each one under $10}, here they are:

Day one:  Updated Nativity Set

Day two:  DIY Snow Wall

Day three: DIY Modern Nutcrackers

This is the first time I’ve used a straw wreath and I loved it! I attached sprigs, ribbon, and flower with straight pins. It was super easy and no hot glue gun burns.

Supplies:

Straw wreath form

Ribbon

Fresh Sprigs from your yard

Flower and berries

Straight pins

You can actually leave the plastic wrapping on, otherwise it makes a mess!

Wrap ribbon around the wreath to completely cover it. Secure it with pins.

Tuck in a few fresh sprigs (and berries) into a fold of the ribbon.  Secure in place with pins.

Attach a flower right below your sprigs and berries. SONY DSC

You could add sprigs to the other side.  I enjoy how simple it looks with just one side embellished.

It’s not very often that I actually use red and green to decorate for Christmas but I love the color combo against the white ribbon and burlap flower (from Hobby Lobby).

The fresh sprigs are from a cedar tree in my yard. It smells lovely I’m sure.  (I still have a cold.) SONY DSC

Just one more day left for this week’s series but part two is coming up just after Thanksgiving!  Of course I have a few things planned for next week too. 😉 I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!

Head over to the winter holidays, DIYs, and decor page for more articles and resources!

It wouldn’t have anything to do with sharing a birthday with Jesus, my twin, and my grandmother…. Ha! Is it your favorite holiday?
