How was your weekend? Ours was just beautiful. I hosted an intimate baby shower for a close friend Saturday. My family and I had a lovely Sunday at church and a trip to the farmer’s market. I finished the day with repurposing a salvaged fireplace surround. Three of my favorite things; GOD, family, and painting furniture!
So more about the baby shower. It was just a few of us but I wanted to make it special. Corral and mint just happened to be my girlfriend’s signature colors so I took my inspiration there. For the table centerpiece, I wanted something inexpensive but still have a big impact. I went for balloons. 1/2 dozen in my two colors were under $10 but they needed some love. I created DIY tissue tassels with gold tissue paper I found in my wrapping bin.
DIY Tissue Paper Tassels for Party Balloons
Here’s how I did it!
I used my ONE piece of tissue, folded it in half, and cut it intro 6 strips. One for each balloon.
Next I cut narrow strips from the open end and left between 1-2 inches at the top uncut.
I rolled up the tassel and added a piece of double sided sticky tape to secure it. To make them reusable, thread string through the top, pinch the tissue together, and secure with more string about an inch down.
They added just enough sparkle to the centerpiece!
There wasn’t the greatest lighting at the venue (and I should have changed my camera settings!), but here’s a pic of our delicious cupcakes with the balloons. We had a great time enjoying brunch, a couple of games, and of course our guest of honor opening up baby gifts! Isn’t she a doll?
What did you do this weekend?
Have a fantastic Monday and I’ll catch you tomorrow!
