I have a confession to make. I’m a little fed up with the family room. It’s a white box with industrial carpet and hardly any natural light people! I’m sure many of you share my frustrations, especially renters. Now that I know we are moving to Okinawa for our next duty station I’m already day dreaming how I will decorate our future home (probably military housing) and what we will pack with our restricted weight allowance. With that being said, we still probably have at least six months here so I’m not ready to throw in the towel just yet.
I’m having the hardest time taking pictures in this room, but I do want to show you what I have been up to. Like adding these two table runners on the media cabinet.
A few of my coffee filter roses (you can fine the DIY here) are displayed in a pewter vase my husband brought home from deployment.
I’m working on styling the refurbished fireplace surround/mantel (you can find that here). Right now I love the mirror behind it (a $20 find at Lowes). I also spray painted a wrought iron medallion that has been sitting in the garage for a couple of years. I actually pulled it out of the giveaway bin. The round shape helps break up all of the hard angles in the room. My DIY button deer silhouette is currently calling the mantel home. 😉
Our main floor is still my favorite space. I just love how our bedroom turned out with my newly styled dresser.
Lucky for us, our coastal style will fit nicely into Island living!!
Are any of my sweet readers making a big move this next year?
