Love Your Space Challenge #8: Have Your Clothes Ready to Wear
Hi there readers! Do you have big plans for the weekend? I just plan on staying cozy and warm and spending time with my family in our newly decorated den. Exciting! Funny what a few hours of rearranging, eliminating, and decorating can do. Speaking of all that, how are the challenges going for you? How many have you tried? I hope they are inspiring you to start this year and your home fresh. At the end of the month (and challenge), I would love to showcase your finished projects. You can share them on Up to Date Interiors Facebook page or email me at kathy@uptodateinteriors.com. If you are a blogger I would love to add your website name as well.

Love Your Space Challenge #8
Have your clothes ready to wear
What do I mean by that? I’m sure most of you are in the same boat as I am and only wear a small percentage of what I actually have in my bedroom. Loving your space also means loving what is behind the doors and hidden in drawers. Isn’t it much more enjoyable to choose an outfit when you know what you have and where it is? I chose this challenge for Friday so that you have the entire weekend to work on it.
Option 1: Quickly (as you can) go through your closet and pull out any left over summer items (if appropriate where you live and your closet if FULL), clothes that don’t fit properly, or anything you haven’t worn in over a year. Store them neatly in bins or other places (donate what you no longer want or need). Organize what’s left by color and category.Container Store
Option 2: Go through your dresser with the same guidelines as the closet. Separate your unmentionables with empty shoe boxes to keep them organized.
Option 3: Hang a valet hook for your planned outfit or dry cleaning inside or outside your closet door.
My outcome: I completed all three options within an hour and half which wasn’t hard because we basically have a broom closet in our master bedroom. Maybe a blessing in disguise? I do store my dresses and coats in different closets. Using an over the door hanger in our master makes it easier to plan outfits to wear and quickly hang up outer garments. My dresser now has much more room with clothes ready for this weather (and that fit properly). I didn’t realize how many summer garments I still had out.
If you are overwhelmed with a huge closet or not a lot of time, just take about 15 minutes to go through one drawer or closet section this weekend. Having a little extra space and discovering “hidden gems” may be worth it!
Thanks for stopping by and all of the enthusiasm you have shown for this New Year’s Challenge. It sure is making it more fun for me!
Great ideas! I think most of us could do with a little closet and drawer “re-organizing”…I know I sure can. Thanks for the reminder. Love the idea of just doing one drawer at a time, it can be a little overwhelming to think about doing it all if it’s really a mess. Have a great weekend.
Thanks Danita! I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
The empty shoe box I never thought of that I have two right now that I will be using. I need to organize my jewelry too in some type of order.

What fantastic ideas! And great idea to break it down so it’s not so overwhelming!
Thanks for the comment Desiree! I’m glad you think so. I didn’t want any of the challenges to be overwhelming.
I reallllly need to do this for my room. Thanks for the inspiration!
My pleasure Rachel! Have a great weekend.
I love your ideas. I organized my pantry last weekend and now I know what I have and what I need to purchase. The same is true for my closet, which is always a work in progress. Thanks for the tips !
So true Jennifer. I will be working on my pantry next week. Thanks for stopping by!

Is that closet in the first pic yours? It’s so pretty!!! I agree with you all your tips! ๐
That closet is from the Container Store ad. (I forget to add that to the image, oops!) I wish it was mine, our closet is about a 1/4 size of that one. =) Thanks for stopping by!
These are all such great ideas! We are currently in the process of reorganizing our closet and drawers now and these are great tips!
