Modern Traditional Dining Room – Design at Your Door
Woohoo! We just survived our first typhoon! Our house was protected with closed steel shutters and we had our emergency food, water, and flashlights on hand. After a few hours of heavy rain and howling wind, it was over. Hurricane Noul was just a hint of what the summer months hold for us and a gentle way to introduce us to typhoons.
Modern Traditional Dining Room
Do you remember the Cool and Eclectic Living Room inspriation board I shared with you? My client loved it so much that we designed a dining room for her rental too!
My client and her family move often due to the military so I looked for versatile pieces that could work in many rooms. She could also mix and match the dining and living room furniture and accessories in future homes or when the mood strikes.
Renter’s Tip: For a designer look, split up dining sets by repurposing the chairs in another space and adding new chairs in a contrasting style or color to the table. Even easier, just add new chairs or slipcovers at the foot and head of the table.
The family already owned a cute round table with three chairs so I started by repurposing the set into two areas. Her dining room is right off the front door so it was important to create a little foyer area for storage and a welcoming atmosphere.
Renter’s Tip: Don’t be afraid to incorporate a new light fixture into a space. You can always take it with you when you move!
I chose a sphere-shaped chandelier that would look great in an office, foyer, dining, or a bedroom. Not too fancy but a great focal point. So happy to hear that my client loved it and was excited to change out the rental “boob” light.
By using her existing table set and creating a DIY wall treatment, we put the dining and foyer together for under $800.
