My Home Style Blog Hop
Today I’m sharing my home style along with an amazing group of bloggers!! There are 20 of us participating so we will be sharing over the next three days. There will be tons of inspiration and decorating tips. I can’t wait to see them all!
My Home Style blog hop is hosted by the lovely and talented Stephanie from Casa Watkins. If you haven’t seen all of the home styles, I would suggest starting from the beginning here and clicking all the way through. They are awesome! If you are coming from Domicile 37, welcome. Isn’t Jess’ style amazing? So classy!
My Home Style
My Home Style is definitely eclectic influenced by vintage, glam, and contemporary classic pieces.
I’ve always loved mixing styles of furniture and have been splitting up “box sets” (furniture, bedding, bath) since I was in high school. After my husband and I bought our first house together (three houses ago), I really started to find my home style.
All of our major pieces of furniture are either contemporary classic or vintage. We love shopping 2nd hand shops and garage sales. If we invest in something new, it’s definitely a classic style.
My favorite historical era is Art Deco. I love swing dancing, Cole Porter, my kimono house robe, and really anything 1940s. This art deco desk (a $35 estate sale find!) is my all time FAVORITE piece of furniture. I painted it gray with ombre drawers to compliment the brass hardware. Definitely glam!
I love mixing warm metals in each room. You’ll find gold, copper, and brass everywhere. They are usually glam or vintage accessories.
My favorite decorating accessory is this woman’s bust, Daphne. Everyone needs a Daphne. She is great at displaying necklaces and adds a bit of glam anywhere she sits.
By the way, she is sitting on an old butler table that I painted white. Another method of turning a classic piece into contemporary.
Our bedroom features all of my home styles. The vintage Chinese étagère sitting in the corner balances out the feminine and glam poster bed. Mixing pieces like this is a great way to keep the husband happy. See, everyone can have a little glam!
If you’re looking to add some Vintage, Glam, and Contemporary Classic pieces, here are some great inspirational pieces!
I love love love your style and your home…You definitely have done a GREAT job on your rental in making it your own!
Thanks Jess!! I will was a little worried when we moved out here but we are super lucky to live off base. On base housing would have been quite a challenge. lol
Love your style and Daphne is fabulous. You’re right, everyone needs a Daphne!
Thanks Susan!!
Love your style! I’m part of the Thursday blogger group and am enjoying seeing all of the posts from this first group. Beautifully done. The touches of glam are my favorite!
Thanks Shelley! The blog hop was really fun!
Your home is so pretty. I really like the gallery wall. I use a lot of metallics also.
Thanks Kathy!! Metallics have a lovely way of adding warmth and sparkle. 🙂
Wonderful!!! I love your flair for mixing vintage and glam. The contemporary pieces just add that special touch. Thanks for sharing your style and participating in the my home style blog hop!
Thanks so much Steph!! You amaze me at everything you put together. So glad that we met in our FB group. Have a fantastic week.
Your home is stunning! It is is very glam, and classic. I adore the formal and well thought out feel to it. The pops of gold are so fun!
Thanks for the sweet words Emily!
You have such a beautiful home Kathy! One that I would want to move into myself! I really enjoy how you incorporate vintage furniture throughout, and your glam touches really speak to me! I think the only place I’ll ever be allowed to be that glam is my closet, and believe me, one day I’m going to take full advantage of it! Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us!
You’re so sweet Iris. I’m really enjoying how our home is coming together. I can’t believe we only moved in 8 months ago. Can’t wait to see what you do with your closet!!
I love your home, Kathy! So unique and so perfectly put together. Thanks so much for sharing with us!
Thanks sweetie!
Your home is so pretty! Loved learning about your style too!
Thanks Erin!
I love the unique pieces in your home and how they all work so well together. It looks like something from Apt Therapy.
Wow! That made my day. I think you inspired me to submit something to them. 🙂 Thanks Angie .
Hi, Kathy! I enjoyed seeing your home and really love your office. Your desk is lovely! Japan is on my bucket list and I’m sure you are constantly inspired by living there.
Thanks Sharon! Japan has been a great experience but has really challenged me to be creative with decor. All their furniture is so small and there’s not a whole lot of home decor on our little island. lol The scenery and colors are stunning!
I have some definite house-envy!! Your home is gorgeous, and I particularly love Daphne! (Also the gorgeous piano but I’m a music teacher so what can I say?)
Thanks Sarah!! Instruments can totally make a room. What do you teach?
I teach elementary school music (band, choir, strings, and recorder/Orff) at two schools in Montreal.
Awesome!! I accompany schools, churches, and teach private lessons. 🙂
Love your home……you have a talent for mixing style items and making them all look awesome. Great job!
Awe! Thanks for the kind words BonBon.
