- Mini plants (I found 6 different ones at our local dollar store!)
- Twine
- Wood beads (I went for a unique 16mm penta-angel-shaped bead.)
- Leather tassels (It’s best to buy 20 of these at once, as you’ll probably get a better deal. Plus, you might end up needing them for other DIY Crafting Projects you’re working on.)
- Hot glue and scissors
Step-By-Step Guide For Nordic Inspired Christmas Plant Hanger:
- Cutting the Twine:
Grab two pieces of twine.
Make each one about as long as your arm (or 30 inches if you’ve got a ruler).
- Threading the First String:
Take one of the twine pieces and thread it through the wood bead. To do this:
- Fold it in half. You’ll see a loop on one end and two loose ends on the other.
- Insert the folded end through the hole of the wood bead as if threading a big needle.
Now, slide the tassel onto the folded end of the twine. It should lay right below that bead.

Thread the twine back up through the wood bead so that the bead stops the tassel from falling off.

Tip: If the twine’s ends look messy or start to come apart, wrap a tiny bit of tape around them. Makes the next steps a bit easier.

- Securing the Second String:
With the other twine piece, tie it around the first one right by the bead. Like when you’re tying your shoes using a simple knot but without the loops.

- Make a Loop at the Top:
Get all four ends of the twine together.

Tie them into a big knot top, ensuring you leave a loop above that knot. This loop will be used for hanging the plant hanger.

- Trimming the Excess Twine:
Snip it off with scissors if you see extra twine sticking out below your big knot. Keep the ends clean for a fine, even look!

- Attaching the Mini Plant:
Plug in your hot glue gun and allow it to heat up.
Once ready, add a dab of hot glue onto the wood bead.

Carefully press the mini plant onto the glue on the bead. Hold it in place for a few seconds to make sure it’s secure.

- Finalizing the Hanger:
Bring the twine up and around the plant to support it. Ensure it’s secure and won’t fall out.

Your Nordic-inspired DIY macrame Christmas tree ornament is now ready to be hung! Choose a spot in your home to showcase your crafty creation.
Pro Tips:
- If you notice any wasted cord, adjust your initial measurements.
- Practicing on larger cords can help beginners get the hang of the knots before moving to finer materials.
Aren’t they darling? I love how they look on our tree.
The beauty of these DIY macramé ornaments lies not just in their visual appeal but also in the love and care with which they’re crafted. Whether you’re making these for your home or as heartfelt gifts, these macramé Christmas ornaments are bound to bring joy and warmth to the season.
