Hi there! Welcome to week 2 of the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling it Home. You can find this week’s updates from the amazing featured designers HERE.
Last week I shared the kitchen inspiration board for our rental kitchen in Japan. The kitchen is pretty much one wall in the main living area. Our “pantry” happens to be the upper cabinets along that wall. This week I focused on organizing our pantry goods with bins and my new Epson portable label maker. Since I have to use a step stool to reach anything, pulling out a bin is much easier than trying to reach to the back of the cabinet (which is actually impossible on the top shelf for me!).
My label maker came with iron on labels which turned out perfect for the cloth bins. I’ve been having a blast labeling things in each room of our house this week.
I’m looking for more “dollar store” plastic bins to replace the green ones. Other than that, all of my cabinets are nicely organized. It sure makes the trip up the step stool easier and more pleasing. lol
A few new things that I’ve added to the space this week; a rug that is in the same style and color family of my inspiration rug (found in a local Japanese store called Nitori) a pretty soap container, and my Minted art piece.
The rug is a variation of our foyer rug so it flows nicely with the rest of the room. I was a little nervous about finding one in Okinawa so it’s a huge relief to snag this one the first week!
A quick rundown of the ol’ to do list:
Spruce up seating with a pop of color
Cover cabinet doors in a floral pattern – renter friendly
Update pulls to brass or gold
Hang new art
Add a new rug
Update tiles – renter friendly
Better organization of countertop space and cabinets
Maybe try something new with the window treatments?
