ORC Week 4: DIY Swiss Cross Tiles
Hi there friends. Guess what? My wallpaper came! Woot woot. It actually only took a week for it arrive which is a small miracle since we live on Okinawa with a military address.
If you are not familiar with the One Room Challenge, it’s a 6 week room makeover/renovation that featured bloggers are a part of and 100s of guest participant bloggers. You can find the latest featured bloggers’ progress HERE. To see my ORC process from last week, click HERE.

This week I was able to get a lot done. I finished removing the adhesive on the cabinets from the previous contact paper in preparation for the beautiful removable wallpaper that will be facing them soon! It took a few hours, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, and a 80’s rock album (and maybe a cocktail or two!).
The tiles got a renter friendly makeover with DIY black swiss crosses.
First, I marked the tiles with a bit of washi tape to create a pattern.
Then I used a ruler to measure two inch strips of black washi for the swiss cross pattern.
The washi tape is really easy to reposition and the entire wall took about 45 minutes.
Since I cleared the countertops for the DIY swiss cross tiles, I went ahead and created a more organized countertop as I put things back. Did you notice my Minted Pineapple art on the windowsill?
Yesterday I shared the kitchen table set update, you can find the DIY HERE. I love the hint of mint it features!
Okay, let’s do a quick recap. Here’s the inspiration board.
A quick rundown of the ol’ to do list:
Spruce up seating with a pop of color
Remove old contact paper
Cover cabinet doors in a floral pattern – renter friendly
Update pulls to brass or gold
Hang new art
Add a new rug
Update tiles – renter friendly
Better organization of countertop space and cabinets
Maybe try something new with the window treatments?
A big thank you to these companies for sponsoring my project; Minted, Epson, and Walls Need Love.
