Stool Makeover with a Cheeky Message
Update am ikea step stool with paint and a fun, cheeky message. Use poppies paint powder in any color of paint for a chalk finish.
I can’t believe we are on to the third week of school! I am having a blast getting back to makeovers and projects. Today is a quick and fun way to spruce up a step stool. If you are vertically challenged like me, then you will appreciate this DIY. My children and I use ours every day.
Step Stool Ikea Hack
It is well loved with a few paint drips and scuffs on it. Time for a makeover. 😉
I quickly sanded it down with my little electric sander paying special attention to the top and leg corners since those are the areas most exposed.
Poppies paint powder in my favorite gray is what I used for the chalk finish. You can read more about it here.
Quick tip: Start with the bottom to get all of the corners and hard to reach places. You can always flip it over to paint the top as long as there isn’t paint on the bottom of the feet.
Two coats of paint (flat finish with primer) covered it perfectly.
Usually I let freshly painted pieces sit for a week for the paint to completely cure but my children started using the stool the same day. It has already been knocked around a bit but there hasn’t been any nicks or scratches. Poppies Paint Powder is wonderful for projects like this.
My daughter used it again today to make brownies.
Since I used Poppies for a chalk finish, I couldn’t resist adding a cheeky little message.
My daughter had fun drawing on it too.
She’s too much!
