Hi there friends. If you are an email subscriber or follow me on Facebook, you might have noticed that I’ve been talking about healthy living.
Even though I spend most of my time sharing DIYs, decorating tips, and organization ideas with you I do spend time trying to improve the way me and my family live. So today I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite ways to have a natural home.
Add plants that purify the air.
Plants like aloe, peace lilies, and philodendron actually can help increase the oxygen levels and naturally detox your home.
Recycle and upcycle decor.
Before you run out to buy a new piece of furniture or decorating accessory, check out the thrift stores and craigslist or local ads. Of course some items like mattresses and couches should be purchased new (unless you plan on reupholstering!).
Use chemical free cleaners.
I keep a spray bottle of diluted white vinegar on stand by to clean counters, bathrooms, spills, mirrors, and dust.
Replace bulbs with CFL bulbs.
Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs saves about 66% of energy and has a lifespan of approximately 10,000 hours. A bigger investment up front but saves you money in the long run!
Use nature as decor!
Nothing beats free decor and this is great way to create a seasonal vignette. Collect your favorite flowers, seashells, and pinecones to display in your house.
Switch to organic sheets.
Cotton linens account for 25% of the world’s insecticide use. Use organic cotton or bamboo sheets instead.
Thanks for stopping by today,
