It’s time for Spring!

Decorating for the holidays and seasons are one of my favorite past times and I love to do something new each year.   Have you seen any Spring decor or Easter decorations that inspire you to change the way you celebrate the new season?PicMonkey Collage.jpg

With Easter right around the corner, I would like to incorporate more saturated colors and stay away from pastels.   If you want to incorporate your Easter decorations into your Spring decor, try using items you already own in your home (or in your yard).  If you do have an urge to buy something, I think it’s best to stay away from stores that sell mass-produced merchandise and shop antique stores, thrift stores and always think outside the box!  Here is what I am planning on doing this year (hopefully this week, eek!)

No Easter bunnies or chicks for me, but what about some cute little paper mache birds like these from www.aandgmerch.com?  (You can find my version of DIY paper mache birds here.)birds
For an Easter brunch table setting or a seasonal vignette,  try using branches from your back yard and eggs to create an Easter tree.  (This is something I do each year but with different branches and the eggs usually turn into favors for my Easter guests).  Here is some inspiration of some beautiful techniques for dyeing or painting Easter eggs.
Hand painted eggs from Suzys Artsy Craftsy Sitcom.

These eggs below were actually drawn on with a sharpie, love them!  You can check them out and other egg creations at www.alisaburke.blogspot.com.peneggs

And, of course, eggs on a branch.  Honestly, anything looks great hung on branches!

If you want something a little more neutral,
you can always use natural dyes (from food products, tea, etc…) or neutral paint.eggsinjar

Want something a little different for a wreath?  Try using unexpected colors with Seasonal elements like I did this ivy with eggs wreath.

wreath_SnapseedUntil next time, My favorite way to decorate is using the season or holiday as inspiration for textures, colors, and materials.  What are you doing with your space this Spring?
