Autumn at the Beach Day One
Good morning my dears!
I finally broke down and brought out my Fall decor. This is the first year it’s going up before the official start of Autumn and I am hoping it brings inspiration to you! Let’s get started…. 😉
Autumn at the Beach
First, gather flat seashells with a flat edge bottom (one per letter).
Grab some spray paint. Unfortunately, I was out of white spray paint so I used interior paint. On the flip side, I was able to paint them inside the house and did some touch ups on furniture here and there. =)
(Yes, I have a floral drop cloth, old curtains). =) It took me three coats of paint (on the inside of the shell) to get a good finish. If you use spray paint, one coat should do the trick.
(TIP) Leave the bottom of the shell and the backside its natural color.
Wait at least 24 hours or overnight for the paint to dry if you painted them with a brush otherwise one hour will be sufficient before you add letters.
Last step Use a stencil or free hand your message. I’m always impatient and do whatever is fastest, so guess what I did! If you are using a stencil, dab craft paint with a dry brush. If you free hand the letters, use a paint marker or sharpie.
Easy day. On to project #2!
DIY Gilded Feathers
Do you remember the gold leaf feathers I showed you last week from Bliss at Home? Well, I did a similar project using a gold finish, a gold sharpie, mod podge and a sheet of gold leaf. I used a sponge brush to apply the mod podge in a chevron pattern, then carefully placed pieces of gold leaf on top.
Wait for the gold leaf to dry before cleaning up the edges.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I would love to hear what you have been up to? Has Fall decor arrived at your house yet?
