Boys Room Wall Art {decal on birch-wood}
Create a large scale wall art for you kids room on the cheap with this easy DIY decal and birch wall art! Personalize it to your kids space!
Hi there! Fourth of July is almost here but before we celebrate our Nation’s birthday, I just had to share with you a little project we did this week. 😉 My son picked out a wall decal a couple of weeks ago to put in his bedroom. Since then, we found out we are moving to Japan sometime in the near future (6 months to a year from now). I didn’t want to have to leave the new wall art behind so my son and I went to Lowe’s and had a 4×4 piece of birch-wood cut down to 4×3 for the decal. We considered staining it, but in the end decided we liked the look of the birch-wood against the black decal.
DIY Large Wall Art with Birch
Supplies for large art:
Decal sticker of your choice
4×3 Birch wood piece (or cut it to fit your decal’s dimensions)
4 screws
Create the wall art:
Position the decal on the wood so you know it’s centered.
Carefully remove the backing from the decal, position and smooth as you go. Ours went out perfectly but if you can’t smooth out bubbles, prick a little pin hole and then smooth.
Hang by putting a screw into each corner and attach to wall. For a renter friendly solution, use velcro command strips in each corner.
Our son loves his new wall art and is very happy it can move with us!
I still have a few things to do in his room before we leave…. (on the other side of the room!;)
For under $30, the wall decal art on birch-wood adds a nice focal point.
Well, have a wonderful Fourth of July and I’ll catch you later!
Kathy, I love this! I love using plywood to make a big impact and you’ve given me a great idea for my sons room!
Awesome! I’m so glad you were inspired. 🙂
