The Global Styler: Make an Easy DIY Planter in 5 minutes
Join the girls from The Global Styler to see summer DIYs and decorating tips that are globally inspired. Create an Anthropologie inspired planter with Japanese dollar store pottery in just a few minutes with this easy DIY.
Hi there. How are you today? I just shared my subscriber new printable last weekend which included a sneak peek of today’s DIY for The Global Styler. I’ve been doing some Anthropologie inspired DIYs with inexpensive supplies and decided to use one for this monthly series.
Scroll down to see how to make a global-inspired planter in 5 minutes (that’s very similar to Anthropolgie’s glazed abstract pots)! Then check out boho summer decorating tips from Casa Watkins Living.
Anthropologie Inspired Planter
Do you have a 100 yen store close to you? I know they are popping up everywhere in the states now! It’s my go-to place in Japan for DIY materials.
Here’s what I used for the planter.
- Japanese tea cup (from Dais0)
- Soy dish (from Daiso)
- Gold craft paint and brush (this metallic gold paint has lasted me for years!!)
- Washi tape
- Hot glue gun and sticks (or glue specific for glass and ceramic.)
How to DIY your own global planter.
- Tape off the edge of the tea cup with washi tape leaving a cm of room.
- Paint the rim with gold metallic paint. Remove the tape right after so it doesn’t pull off dry paint.
- Glue the base to the soy cup (upside down). Just a warning, hot glue will hold if you don’t handle it often but something stronger (like epoxy) would be better in the long run.
Pot your favorite faux or live plant!
I’m thinking about making more to hold my makeup brushes. It would be so cute next to Daphne.
I’ve already had fun styling it with my recent printable abstract art.
Wouldn’t it make a darling hostess gift? Make sure to check out my summer page full of DIYs, decorating tips, and printables for the season.
