Home Tour {a lovely rental}

Howdy readers! I am sharing my sister’s house today.  I had a wonderful time staying with her as she graciously put up with my two children, husband, and myself all week.  Her rental reflects her love of antiques, art, and music.

Master Bedroom

Rental Tip #1:  Don’t be afraid to paint the walls! Ask permission first (or be prepared to paint back to original color). Paint just one focal wall for a quick change.

Guest Room/Office

Rental tip #2:  Use spaces for double duty.  If you have a spare room, make sure you are using it to its best advantage.  My sister has frequent visitors and does little work at home so having a guest room with a little office corner makes sense for her.

Rental tip #3:  Change out a light fixture. (You can always take it with you when you move!)  If you have never done it before and are apprehensive, ask an electrician to assist you.

  1. I love all of these tips! We are currently in an apartment while we’re looking for a house and I hate it. We can’t paint at all so I really don’t feel like this place is my home. I can’t wait until I’m able to do that in a house!

    I’m stopping by from the #tribaldare! I’m Teresa and I blog over at Crafty Wife where I share my craftaholic tendencies, obsession with Disney, and newfound love of photography. I can’t wait to connect with you more! Have a wonderful week!

    1. I’m late catching up on the tribal dares but thanks so much for stopping by and sharing. We can’t paint our walls either but I found a way to work around the yellow. It’s actually a lovely, neutral yellow so it could be worse. lol I just LOVE painting color on my walls. Have a great weekend Teresa!

  2. Great tips and I love your style. I also love mixing old and new. To me it just gives the room visual and usually spatial interest.

    I am Stacy stopping by from #tribedare. I blog at anygirlcandoit.com where I show women (girls of all ages) how to diy, craft, organize and decorate on a budget. I want to empower women to do these things on their own and know that it doesn’t have to be perfect for them to love it.

  3. Such a cute space! I love all the yellow lamps. The first thing we did when we moved into our apartment was paint it — white walls and beige carpet can be so depressing! Stopping by from the #tribedare

  4. I love the touch of yellow in all of the rooms. I am visiting one day late from #tribaldare, but the day one task was too fun not to do.
    We do share a lot of common interest, I love you philosophy with Up To Date Interiors about loving the space that you live in. Making a beautiful home with pets and children is a challenge, but a great challenge. I am excited to meet you in person. Thanks, Carmody
