Behind the Scenes with Japanese Ink Illustrations
Take a look at a Japanese ink illustration class and enjoy two cactus ink prints in the subscriber printable art library.
Howdy and happy August!! Since I took such a long summer break from blogging, I have something special for my subscriber freebies this month. I had the opportunity to take an ink illustration class here in Japan with some friends.
A Set of Plant Ink Illustrations Printable Art
Our sensei (teacher) was so sweet and talented, we really enjoyed how to do quick still life painting using different techniques with ink. You can check out her amazing work on Instagram!
She showed us how to experiment with the ink dropper, smear ink with cotton swabs, and splatter the ink.
The community center is nestles in the foothills and has a fabulous resturant, plant store, and home decor store.
Here are some of our illustrations drying. The portrait our teacher created of one of the young ladies in our classes in minutes. Isn’t it beautiful?
So for July and August, I created 2 printables to add to the subscriber printable library. The plant still life paintings are a pear cactus and a succulent. I sized them to be printed at 8x10s. When you sign up for Up to Date Interiors’ weekly newsletter, you get DIY and decorating tips, exclusive offers, and monthly freebies including full access to the printable library.
I can’t wait to try some more illustrations, it was really fun!
Best of June and July and what’s to come!

Transform your home into a seaside inspired oasis with thirteen gorgeous coastal decor DIYs and decorating ideas and easy to follow instructions.
And most recently I shared 9 decorating tips for displaying art without putting holes in the wall.
And for what’s to come….we’re moving back to the USA!! If you haven’t heard yet, my husband is retiring from the military and we are headed to Fort Worth. I’m beyond excited for what this means for Up to Date Interiors. I have some big plans!! But first, we need to find a house, school, and get settled. I’m going to try to keep in touch the rest of August. You will see a “back to school” DIY next week!
I would love to hear how your summer went. Did you do any traveling? Get any big projects done?
I just came across your blog, I love it! Very nice. Good luck in the States!
Thank you so much Dawn!
