Master Bedroom Update in Blue and White
Hello friends. I’ve been wanting to show you our master bedroom for weeks now. I shared an inspiration board months ago and I love how the room is coming together.
Let’s take a looksy at the inspiration board for fun.
I pretty much included all of the elements from the board into this room. There are still a few things I would like to tweak but it sure is a cozy space to hang out in. I also love the resort vibe it has going on.
We didn’t bring any of our bedroom furniture so these are pieces I have found on bookoo.com, thrift stores, online, or government issued. The rug, chair, and white side table are the items I brought from the states. Oh and Daphne, of course.
She does such a lovely job wearing my necklaces.
My first aloe plant is doing splendidly. Let’s hope it stays that way! The white table it sits one was a thrift store find a few years ago. I removed the damaged side leaves and spray painted it white. The crystal and brass pull is from the hardware store in Okinawa and was under $1!
The two botanical prints and wall reading lights are attached with command strips. It’s amazing what you can do with velcro and sticky hooks. 🙂
I’m sure you can tell which side is my husband’s and which is mine. Definitely masculine VS feminine brought together with a couple of the same elements. The left side of the bed has much more wall space so the bigger desk was appropriately placed. It was another awesome find at just $30.
On the other side is a floor length mirror and the closet (with a washi tape makeover).
Since the room is so long, I layered a couple of our rugs. The faux fur feels wonderful on bare feet and was under $25. (and here I was worried about finding inexpensive decor in Okinawa…) Our Chinese bookcase that we found at a local thrift store got moved to the opposite corner to help balance the dark and light furniture.
Have I told you I brought way to many pictures to hang? I’m glad I was able to use the bookcase for a little gallery display. It also has a couple of drawers and I added a couple of bins on top for extra storage.
The bottom shelf holds all of our “ugly”books that didn’t make the cut on our foyer bookcase.
The last couple of accessories I added to tie the room with the rest of the house are blue pillow covers and a woven wall hanging.
These pieces make the room a little more casual and comfortable. I really wanted a boho coastal vibe with the bedding and decor. The wall that needs tweaking is across from the bed. I’m thinking a few more art pieces on the wall. Of course the best feature in our master bedroom is the ocean view. It makes me smile everyday.
Whew! That was quite a few pictures. Hopefully you made it to the bottom.
Tomorrow I’ll be sharing an awesome round up of patriotic ideas for July 4th. 🙂

Kathy, the word is looksee, not looksie. It means take a look. Love that bedroom. I want to go back over there.
Your room is gorgeous! All the colors and textures work brilliantly together. Good luck with the aloe plant! I’ve already killed two and I’m currently on my third. Plants are definitely not my forte!
Thanks Elizabeth. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
What a beautiful space!
Thanks Erin! I think it’s my favorite room in the house.
