Simple Fall Tablescape
Hi friends. Whew! What a week we are having. We have explored castles, beaches, shops, and of course eaten tons of food since my parents have come. Then there was the typhoon. I’m just exhausted!
Well, it’s time for another Create and Share! Last month, 6 other bloggers and I created something using the same decor item. You can read about it HERE. This time we all created a Fall Table Setting with a DIY project.
Simple Fall Tablescape
with DIY Chalkboard Chargers
DIY Chalkboard Chargers
Supplies:
Outdated or thrifted chargers that could use a makeover!
Chalkboard paint and brush
Painters Tape
How to:
Tape out two stripes crossing to save some of the original charger plate color.
Paint 2-3 light coats of chalkboard paint, letting them dry between coats. (Remove the painters tape before the last coat completely dries to avoid pulling off paint.)
After 24 hrs, season the chalkboard paint by rubbing chalk onto the paint and wipe off with a damp paper towel.
Easy Fall Tablescape
I wanted the table setting to be casual and fun. I started with a pretty bouquet of local flowers in warm yellows, orange, and purple.
I went through my scarves stash to find one in Fall colors. After I folded it in half, I knotted the ends so they wouldn’t hang into the chairs.
The plate setting has the chalkboard chargers, plain white Ikea plates, my no-sew napkins (you can find the tutorial HERE) and vintage lettuce plates. Of course, nothing says Fall like a brass deer! I also kept my blue seat cushions and goblets to tie in with the living room decor.
Now check out what all of my friends did for their Fall Table Settings and DIYs!!
Bring on the cooler weather!!

Love the simplicity of your table! The chargers rock. I ALMOST did that project! The touches of gold are perfect.
lol That’s too funny Sara! Thanks for the sweet comment.
This so pretty and inviting. Makes we want to sit down and some tea….Love it! I really like the look of the chalkboard chargers. You pulled this all together beautifully.
Wouldn’t that be fun if we could all have some tea together? Some day.. Sigh… Thanks darlin’!
this is so cool and versatile. I like the simplicity of your table setting and how you incorporated real flowers into the tablescape. Cute!
Thanks Jessica! I love the local flowers out here, add a few yard clippings….Cheap bouquet!
I adore the simplicity of your table & also your color scheme. I see your awesome napkins made an appearance. I adore the way you painted the plates! I know I always ask you advice about stuff in Okinawa but I hope you don’t mind! Where on earth did you find the paint? I’ve mentioned before I failed when I bought the latex paint for my furniture because I couldn’t read the Japanese label. Thanks Kathy, you’re the best!
Oooh! This is an easy one. The chalk paint came from Makeman’s in the painting isle and it’s in English!
Thanks so much! I am actually heading over there today so I will have to look out for it 🙂
On good! Let me know how it goes. 🙂
I love these!! What a great idea for chargers. I need to do something similar. Thanks for sharing!
Awe! Thanks April. I’m so glad I decided to paint them!
This is a beautiful set up! I love the pops of gold. That is a color I always forget to use with my fall decor, I need to keep it in mind for this year!
Thanks so much Emily!
I love your updated chargers! The entire tablescape is gorgeous!
Thanks Ruthie! I think I’ll use them more now.
I think my charger plates are ready for an update! Great idea! I am visiting from Hit Me With Your Best Shot today.
So glad you stopped by! Thanks for the sweet comment.
I love the color scheme you chose. Where did you get the blue globets? I love everything!!!
Thanks Jennifer!! Those globets came from a store here in Okinawa called Nitori. It’s kind of like a Target/Ikea.
