Thrifty Furniture Makeovers
Howdy friends!
When we were out of town last weekend, we stayed with some dear friends in Virginia Beach. Every time I’m there, I discover a new thrifty furniture makeover in their house. Seriously, that girl has a knack for finding awesome pieces for pennies. Next time, I’m bringing my good camera.
Check out the lines of this chair that was spray painted silver and covered with teal crushed velvet. Dreamy.
My friend Amy’s tip: When covering a chair cushion, make sure you don’t cover the screw holes with fabric so you can reattach the bottom easily. Um, been there, done that. lol
Here’s Amy helping me stage the shot.
She also seems to find amazing pieces with caning like this roller desk chair.
Her color and fabric choices remind me of Santa Barbara style, which I love! Clean white and silver pieces with vintage fabrics. A little modern and a little funky.
I love the wood carved desk. It is such a lovely contrast with the chair.
Amy also found a cane dining set that she painted white and reupolstered.
I had a lot of fun staging and styling the shots. This gorgeous clay pot is for cooking Thai food and mint from Amy’s garden.
Since I had taken the pics with my phone, I had fun playing with the waterlogue app. You can read more about the app here.
I sized this one as an 8×10 print. You can download here for your own use if you like it!

I had so much looking through Amy’s house to style her furniture. It’s one of my favorite things to do!
