$100 Room Makeover: Bathroom Plans
Greetings friend. Did you get a chance to download your free watercolor fish printable yesterday? It’s just too cute!!
It’s been a few months since I’ve participated in a room makeover but this month I’ve decided to join in on the $100 room challenge hosted by Lemons, Lavender, and Laundry. Participating bloggers have all month to transform a space with a restricted budget and I’m taking on our rental bathroom.
Update: week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4
Speaking of rental bathrooms, I’m sharing tips on adding personality to rental bathrooms at Polished Habitat today!
In traditional Japanese homes, toilets tend to be in a separate room (the W.C.) while the bathroom vanity and shower are on the other side of the house. I’m making over the vanity area which is also our laundry room.
Here’s the space I’m working with. It is definitely the most challenging area in our rental. Most of the house has cottage charm but this room is just plain ugly. *giggle
The vanity has a missing light cover and a lot of damage on the inside of the cabinets so I asked our landlord to replace it. (I’ll show you the new one next week!) The bath area sits right behind our kitchen.
I wish I could move the laundry unit away from the window but it has to stay where it is because of the hoses. To the right is the shower room which has a small but deep soaking tub.
As you can see it needs lots of help!!
Here are the key elements for the makeover. The bathroom vanity on the mood board is from our last Japanese home and will be similar to our new vanity.

Bamboo Bathroom Shelves | Pineapple Print |Blue and White Hand towel | Peel and Stick Tiles | Hanging Vine Plant | B&W bath mats | Storage Baskets
To do list:
Ask landlord for vanity replacement – free
Add a storage unit between the vanity and laundry – $39.99 (I already purchased the bamboo bathroom shelves from the mood board.)
Place storage baskets on shelves to hold laundry supplies – shop local (plus a DIY!)
Hang pineapple print – already owned
New hand towels blue and white – shop local
Blue and white accents – shop local
New rugs – shop local
Since this area houses our kitty potty, the sliding door has to stay open revealing the vanity to the main part of the house. I chose the key elements to help it have a cohesive style with the kitchen and living room.
Well there you have it. That’s the plan!! Not a huge space but it can use a lot of love. I plan on shopping the 100 yen store and 3 coin store ($1 and $3 stores respectively) for most of the items and there’s a couple of home decor stores that will have what I need. It is a challenge to shop for home goods in Japan! lol But the 100 yen stores are AMAZING and include home linens and some decor.
Participating bloggers will be linking up all week to share their room and plans!
I love your mood board! From ths looms of it you will make it amazing! Really excited to see this come together!
