Last year we were in Japan and I made over my daughter’s tatami room in a traditional Japanese house and the year before that our rental Japanese kitchen. Now that we are in Fort Worth and own our home, the sky is the limit for design ideas and I’m pulling out all of the stops! First, let me show you what we are working with.
Not a large space but we have her tatami twin bed on a frame and a play kitchen and dresser that was in storage the last four years. I had to have something on the walls the few months we’ve been here so I hung my DIY basket wall art.
The show stopper will be a new wall treatment to bring in much needed personality and a little quirkiness. I plan on updating the play kitchen and dresser.
Now to give you an idea for the vintage boho refresh. Here are some inspiration pictures. I chose these rooms because of saturated colors, eclectic layers, and loads of details! That’s the look I’m going for folks. Some maximalist vintage bohemian vibes. And oh, I’m letting my nine year daughter help in choosing colors and patterns. Should be fun!

A vintage eclectic shared girls room by our very own Jessica from Domicile 37.
This adorable big girls room from Live Free Creative Co.
I especially love the board and batten and wallpaper treatment in this Anthropologie staged bedroom.
And this stunning girls room from Old Home Love.
Aren’t they all fantastic? Usually I have to work around wall colors and other finishes in our rentals but now that I have free rein I might just change every square inch.
Now I can’t end the post without sharing our generous sponsors.

Who makes the wall paper in the old home love, last bedroom?!
Jillian, That is a great question! Their blog doesn’t seem to be active anymore but you can find that room on their Instagram account. https://www.instagram.com/andyandcandis/ They also have a tv show. I could not find the wallpaper name anywhere. Good luck!
