Awesome Apres Ski Party Ideas for Easy Winter Entertaining
Get out of the gloomy winter slump and find out how to host an Apres Ski “after ski” themed winter dinner party that can be used all season long.
Hi there! Are you getting snow? We’ve had snow flurries all week so this fun blog hop could not come at a more perfect time. The lovely creative Ariel from PMQ for Two invited a few of us to create an Apres Ski inspired tablescape.
What is an Apres Ski Party?
The first thing I had to do was look up the French term! If you are unfamiliar with this concept, it’s simply a social gathering after a day of skiing usually in the local bar or ski lodge to get sauced. Sound fun? Read on to see how you can use this ski party theme for your next dinner party this season!
Since this is also a blog hop, I invite you all to go see what PMQ for two, Jewelled Interiors, & Semigloss Design have done for their take on the Après Ski theme.
Apres Ski Party Ideas
- Layer wintery fabrics and textures for the base of your tablescape.
I layered my favorite plaid scarf under a faux fur sheepskin to transform our dining room for a ski lodge themed party . To keep my favorite textiles from getting messy I used woven chargers and drink coasters to protect them.
- Use an eclectic mix of dishes to keep thing cozy and inviting.
Since my mom is currently visiting us in Japan this week, we’ve been doing a little shopping! I found some gorgeous ceramic bowls at the local thrift store for $2 a piece. Interesting fact, Japanese stores usually sell dishes in sets of 5. Luckily, the bowls were priced separately so I went with a more comfortable even number.
The bowls are layered on bamboo salad plates, white dinner plates, and thrifted gold bamboo serving ware. I’m serving homemade chicken pot pie soup for this kid friendly dinner party!
- Don’t forget your favorite cocktails alcoholic or not. This is the perfect opportunity to show off a signature drink!
After a long cold day, a hot and cold drink option is ideal! Maybe brandy and hot chocolate? It’s totally a thing.
- Add chess, checkers, or card games to the mix.
We like to keep our apres ski party games fun with unique card games that make up weird rules or include trivia.
- Add to the winter vibe with apres ski decor accessories.
I already had bottle brush trees left out when I transitioned from Christmas to winter decor and they add a fun element to the table with a cute little squirrel. Striped washi tape updated some plain candles and gingham ribbon dresses up the decanter.
With just a few simple decorating ideas with items you probably have, you can set up an Apres Ski themed party in minutes! Throw in a couple of cocktails and games and kiss the wintery blues away.
