Unique and Fresh Ways to Display Family Photos
I have a confession to make. Displaying family photos is something I struggle with. I feel really bad about it and my husband is constantly asking why we don’t have our family photos out! In our last house, I didn’t have any problem showcasing our photos as a gallery wall but was just not feeling it here in Okinawa.

We’ve acquired so many great pieces of art (and we didn’t even bring it all to Okinawa) that they become my priority for wall art. Our current house also has concrete walls so I had to be creative with decorating them.
After I saw this post from Emily A. Clark a couple of weeks ago, a lightbulb went on. I had a renewed inspiration to display family photos! I absolutely fell in love with the gallery framed black and white images.
I then asked my blogging friends if they had fresh and unique ways to display family photos. Boy, did they deliver! (Please pin images from the original source!!)
My friend Jess has her family photos displayed in a way that feels like pop art. Genius. I also love that the photo in color is in the perfect juxtaposition to the black and white photos. This woman has nailed it!
Aniko not only has artistic talent creating wall art (have you seen her paintings and photographs?) but I love the cohesive and fresh way she displays her family photos. An entire wall of stretched canvas in a series adds the perfect pop of color in a fresh and inviting way.
I also love the idea of hanging just one large black and white canvas for a feature wall.
Since I have a lot of smaller framed photographs that I would like to have displayed as well, I really enjoyed how Iris seamlessly incorporated hers into a collection in a built in. It’s lovely, neutral, and lots of texture.
Racheal from This is Our Bliss has incorporated her family photos into her style with a monochromatic family wall. It really is the perfect wall art for this space!
I also adore this trio in the playroom of her kids too. Isn’t the reading nook cute?
I always love seeing Cassie’s unique decorating style. This door of family photos display is just stunning. The gold frames (and birds) add warmth to this beautiful space.
She also shared this really neat postcard stand turned photo display with me. Super cool.
Thanks ladies for sharing your amazing photo displays with me!
If you are not already fans of these women, I encourage you to check out their blogs. Their talent is over the top.
I’m hoping to get some photos up soon! What is your favorite way to display family photos?
What a great post, Kathy! I love everyone’s unique style and technique for displaying their precious memories. Thank you so much for including my living room gallery wall and playroom nook!
Great compilation! I am in love with Emily Clarks B&W and even contemplated on creating my own in the living room…again, but not as popish….decisions, decisions.
i LOVE jess’s giant prints and i also love aniko’s collection as well as admire her photography skills. i think she took some of them? thank you SO much for including me in this round up!
Kathy–Thanks for including mine 🙂 I’m pretty good at hanging the pictures initially but I’m terrible at updating them! Ha!
