Best Renters Hacks for the Bedroom
Hi there. Have you been enjoying all the pretty spring tablescapes this week? I’m so ready for sakura season here in Japan!
It’s time for our second post for the Best Renters Hacks. If you are new to the series, it is a monthly collaboration of DIYs and decorating tips for a different spaces in your home shared by home decor/DIY bloggers who are experienced renters. Last month we focused on the living room and today we are sharing our best tips and tricks for the bedroom.
Just like any other space in your rental home, try not to focus on the things you can’t change (like the ugly linoleum floors, outdated carpet, or ugly wall coverings) but use some rental friendly design tricks to make the space beautiful and functional.
Use a desk as a bedside table. It can give you more storage/counter space, act as a vanity or office space in small rental, and breaks up a bedroom set nicely.

Update closet doors with washi tape. Add detail to boring bifold or sliding closet doors with decorative tape. 
Use rugs to cover ugly floors. Don’t be afraid to layer them!

Update the ceiling fixture. Hire an electrician if you feel uncomfortable doing it yourself. You may be able to just update the shade! Here, I got creative with a shell hanging and strung it over a pendant light. 
Hang curtains without putting holes in the wall. Use command strips or hooks for light weight rods and curtains for a renter friendly solution.

Add color to your room by painting furniture or adding bright art decor when you can’t change your wall color.
Add interest with different textures and plants.
