Spruce Up Your Seating!
This is a great way to make dining chairs or kitchen bar stools more custom or comfortable and give them personality. Have fun!
Option 1: Paint them. These examples below are a great way to add a little something extra without having to paint the entire chair/stool unless you want a complete makeover.
This first idea is to add a pop of color on some of the trim. Simple and fun!
These bar stools got the full treatment with a special paint treatment and seat cushions. They definitely don’t look like ordinary “out of the box” stools.
Gold dipped legs. Are you ready to hop on board?
Option 2: Add a little more comfort and character with a throw pillow on your chair. Your guests will love you and your dinners will linger on!
My outcome: I’ve been wanting to paint the top trim on the back of my bar stools a soft gray so I did. It took about 15 minutes (5 minutes a coat with drying time in between) and I love them! (UPDATE: I add a coat of chalk paint and labeled them, you can see it here.)
Sometimes you just have to be brave! I would love to hear what you are going to try. 😉
Thanks for stopping by,
Love your ideas. Your stools look great. Love the gray.
Thanks mom! It was an easy way to give them a little more character. Are you trying any of the projects (when you have time)?
Your addition to the chairs looks lovely, Kathy, and this post really makes me want to do something similar in my home. We’ve got some bar stools/chairs in the kitchen that are just dying for an upgrade of some sort. Great ideas!
Here’s to a wonderful long weekend!
Thanks Erin!! I would love to see what you do. YAY for a long weekend. Enjoy yours too. 😉
I do need to be brave! Our kitchen chairs are lovely but they are very plain, so is our table. I think we could stand to do something bold with the chair cushions, I just can’t find anything I like yet!
We have some cushions from Word Market that have held up for 6 years now and are really comfortable! It’s hard to make a commitment when you have to buy so many of something… (or are your chairs upholstered?)
Thanks for stopping by!!
Thanks Arpyl! I love gold dipped legs, if my chair legs were all round…. Have a great weekend!
Your barstools look great! Thanks for including a link to mine! 🙂 Life to the full! Melissa
Aw! Thanks Melissa!! So happy you stopped by. I love the chalk paint on yours, gorgeous. 😉
