Use three easy steps when styling a bookcase to get a designer look. Pictures with step by step instructions included to help you along the way.
Good morning from Texas! Oh how I miss living in this state. I’m staying with my twin this week and spending time with my family. This morning we went for a run from her house to downtown Ft Worth. Fellow Texans, do you recognize where we are at?
Tips for Styling a Bookcase
If you know me at all, you would not be surprised that I rearranged my bookcase. Again. I just love swapping out things and restyling. Here are three steps you can take to style your bookcase with a few extra tips. Have fun!
- Step 1: Start with your books. Place some standing up and some laying on their side. To keep the eye moving around, put together small groups of books at a zig-zag pattern. The empty spots allow the space to breathe.
- Step 2: Add in pictures and art work to fill about 1/3 of the space. Do you recognize the waterlogue pictures I added? You can read how to create them here.
- Step 3: Place smaller accessories on the stacked books and a few more to fill in some of the dead space. Step back often to see if your eye is drawn evenly around the bookcase. Make sure all you spread out the colors and materials (lighter and darker accessories, silver, gold, brass) and heights. Don’t over do it!
If you are uncertain about something, leave it for a couple of days and then tweak again.
