Hello friends. How is September treating you? We actually had a nice cool breeze today but I’m sure that won’t last long.
Today is another DIY for the kitchen with a DIY Glass Canister Makeover. We have been using IKEA’s DROPPAR jars to hold our daily use ingredients for a few years now. After our kitchen cabinet makeover with copper pulls (you can read about it HERE), I planned on updating the canisters.
Supplies to update your canisters:
Copper spray paint plus a clear finish spray paint like polyurethane
LIDS: Spray paint 2-3 light coats of copper spray paint on lids letting coats dry 30 minutes in between. Finish off with a clear coat for extra protection against scratches.
Tape off a rectangle on each canister with painter’s tape. I used a business card for a template.
Paint 2-3 light coats of chalkboard paint. Let the paint completely dry between coats.
After the last coat of paint, while it’s still wet, remove the painter’s tape.
Wait 24 hrs before seasoning with chalk and using. To season the canisters, rub chalk on the paint then wipe off.
Don’t they look spiffy?I really like how they tie in with the copper pulls.
Just one more project and the kitchen will be finished!
