Coastal Lamp Makeover {DIY}

Try this easy Coastal Lamp Makeover for under $10!! Update your lamp base with a sea glass color and change your shade with rope for this nautical DIY.

Howdy! I’m excited to share an easy DIY coastal lamp makeover.  As I told you in this post, I am slowly working on our family room with a little projects here and there.  I’ve had these two silver lamps as long as I can remember and decided to give them a coastal face lift!

Coastal Lamp Makeover {DIY}

for under $10!

Valspar’s Color Radiance (paint and primer for wood, metal, and plastic) in Flat La Fonda Mirage, painter’s tape, Sisal rope, and my trusty hot glue gun!

Remove light bulbs, lamp shades, and any hardware.

Tape off the socket and cord.

Paint two or three light coats of paint, holding the can 12 inches away to avoid drips.

While your paint is drying, glue rope around the lamp shade with hot glue.  Start the rope alongside  the seam on the backside of lamp shade.  (As shown in the middle picture above.)

TIP: I ran out of rope right before I finished the second lamp shade.  I cut three pieces of twine and twisted them together to “make” more rope.  The shade is a little lighter but hardly noticeable.  It sure beat a second trip to the hardware store and spending another $6.  😉

They turned out just perfect!

In other news….. sometime in the next six months, we are moving (PCSing) to Okinawa!!!!  I’m really excited to document our new adventure and of course decorate a new home.

Thanks for stopping by today,
