One Year Later Blog Home Tour with Dramatic Before and Afters
Check out before and afters of our one story ranch in Fort Worth one year later. Rooms are filled with eclectic and colorful style in this home decor tour.
I can’t believe it! Today marks one year since we closed on our house in Fort Worth and got the keys. There have been some major changes in most of the rooms in our single story ranch. I love seeing other interior design blogs share their before and afters in a home tour so I wanted to do the same!
Before and After Home Decor Tour
The previous owners had opened up the traditional ranch design to an open layout. When you come in the front door you can see all living areas of the house. Welcome, please come on in!
Thanks to the Spring One room Challenge I accomplished a lot of changes in this open living space area. Painting the front wall green and the window frame black to create a feature wall made the biggest impact to the front of the house. Other highlights are my grandfather’s display cabinet which I made over with wallpaper and paint, two wing back chairs, and my baby grand piano.
The foyer was brightened with a new light fixture, door paint, and stenciled walls that you can read all about in this post.
The fireplace wall went through a dramatic transformation thanks to a fresh coat of paint on the built in before our furniture shipment even arrived and a $10 German Smear DIY during the One Room Challenge.
There have already more more changes with the furniture arranging and decor styling that you can find in our Fall home tour from last week.
Our master bedroom came with a lovely khaki green wall color but I knew I wanted to make a bigger impact with a mural. Especially since there is a small off-centered window I wanted to draw attention away from.
I installed this Anthropologie mural a few months ago! I will eventually share a post on that but I did share how I gave my grandmother’s dresser a makeover with the best paint for furniture. More changes will be coming soon for this space! I’m envisioning new night stands, ceiling fan, bedside lamps, and a different wall color.
The master has a very small on suite. Here it is from the bedroom. To the left is the shower.
I gave our small bathroom a big makeover on a budget with dramatic jewel tones and a pretty space saving shelving/towel rack.
My favorite room and most dramatic transformation was our daughter’s boho eclectic bedroom makeover. The room had straw yellow walls when we moved in and furniture and decor we had brought back from Japan.
I touched just about every square inch in this space by adding molding, wallpaper, DIY furniture makeovers, and more!
The makeover was completed thanks to the New Year New Room Refresh challenge I participate in every January!
And because it’s my favorite space…here’s the wide shot of the room!
Just this summer I was able to give our son’s room a refresh with new furniture. I really like the blue painted walls in his room but will eventually had a mural to his room as well.
These are just the rooms I had good before and after photos and made the most changes to. If you would like to see more of our house check out a colorful summer home tour and decorating for Fall on a budget. You can also find all of the home tours and room makeovers in this house below.
